Antimicrobial activity of n-hexane and ethyl acetate extracts from Candida tropicalis and Phyllosticta capitalensis fungal endophytes

Background ad objective: Among the notable achievements of twentieth century was discovery and identification new drugs from plants against microbial infections. However, novel since then is inadequate due to emergence resistant microbes. In an effort discover drugs, study aimed investigate antimicrobial activity crude extracts endophytic fungi isolated Cnidoscolas aconitifolius Ocimum suave. Methods: Following morphological characterization initial screening for activity, isolates that had higher inhibition were genotypes by Sanger sequencing. Two (Candida tropicalis O. suave Phyllosticta capitalensis C. aconitifolius) tested Escherichia coli Staphylococcus aureus. Results: Overall, range extract concentration 152 mg/mL 1353 mg/mL, a zone 7 21 mm. The lowest minimum (19>MIC>9.5) observed in spp. S. Conclusions: Findings present have shown endophytes medicinal can generate secondary metabolites with therapeutic applications. Therefore, further investigations are warranted decipher content structure bioactive compounds may be associated extracts.
